KOLKATA: Alcohol-based hand sanitisers, produced under the state government’s watch, are likely to be made available in the city’s retail pharmaceutical outlets by end of this week. Hand sanitisers, which are being sold at a premium by a section of pharma retail outlets in the city, is likely to be priced much below the cap set by the Union health ministry.
According to pharma wholesalers and retailers, nearly 45,000 bottles of hand sanitisers will reach city’s retail outlets by end of the week.
Each of the 200ml bottles, sources said, will be available at Rs 85 or less — almost half of what is being charged by some retailers in the city.
At a meeting in Nabanna last week, state took a stock of the medicine availability situation across the state and asked key wholesalers and dealers to place orders for hand sanitisers with private firms.
