The South Dakota Amateur Baseball Association still intends on playing this season, according to a release by the association.

SDABA President Dale Weber said safety precautions are the top priority in regard to the COVID-19 pandemic. But the association will consider all options when determining the season’s fate.

“On behalf of the SDABA, it is our intention to have an amateur baseball season in South Dakota this summer,” Weber said in the release.

The amateur baseball season starts in late May or early June. Weber said options include delaying the start and playing a shortened regular season. He also stated an option would be to move the state tournament back and implement a shortened tournament.

The state amateur tournament is scheduled for Mitchell on Aug. 5-16.
