Match of the Day pundits Ian Wright and Alan Shearer have both shared their unique reasons behind why they would have both loved the opportunity to play under Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp during their playing days.

Klopp's side have taken the Premier League by storm this season, winning 27 of their 29 league matches, which has put themselves 25 points clear at the top of the table, though they being forced to wait to lay their hands on their first league title in 30 years because of the coronavirus crisis, which has forced football right across Europe to come to a standstill.

Up until the postponement of the campaign almost a month ago, Liverpool were charging their way towards the title, with their performances winning praise and plaudits from all corners of the globe.

Now, both Wright and Shearer, alongside Match of the Day host Gary Lineker, have been producing a series of podcasts in the absence of the Premier League campaign, with their latest topic being all about ranking the Premier League's top 10 managers of all time.

Though the Premier League has had the honour of boasting some of the biggest names in football management down the years, both Wright and Shearer have revealed that they would have both relished the chance to play under Klopp during their playing days, though the reasons are rather different.

Wright, formerly of Arsenal, explained his reasoning for wanting to play under Klopp, telling the Match of the Day: Top 10 Podcast : "I’d probably go for Klopp because I think I’d be too afraid of Sir Alex (Ferguson). Arsene Wenger, when I was with him, was too placid, for me, I need a bit more.

"I think someone like Klopp would probably have me on that line I’d need to be on."

Whilst Wright elected to choose Klopp as his choice due to not being as scary as former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson, Shearer, a Premier League winner with Blackburn Rovers, revealed he would want to play for Liverpool due to the quality of crosses he would be able to connect with from Reds right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Shearer said: "I’d probably say the same (as Wright), there’s not a lot between them in terms of the number of chances they create for their forwards.

" Alexander-Arnold, when he whips those balls in, or De Bruyne, when he whips those balls in and the chances they create for Liverpool or City, for a forward, it’s dreamland."
