Hyderabad: 'T-CONSULT' project launched to treat people in rural areas with no access to doctors

HYDERABAD: In order to treat people in rural areas especially the ones who do not have access to doctors, T - CONSULT" Project was launched on Monday in Makthal mandal, Narayanpet district.
“With lockdown, its apt in a situation where people need not step out to consult a doctor,” read a statement issued by Narayanpet district collectorate.
Chinna Jeeyar Swamy launched the project through video call, the services also include AYUSH consulting services.Citizen can book appointment with doctors of their choice and specialty through the tele consult facility mediated by panchyat level officials. Doctors will interact with patients and provide prescription, which can be printed too.
The Panchayat secretary, who is the nodal officer for the project, will coordinate the required video-connect.
“A total of 62 doctors from various fields of specialization joined together to provide free consultation services to the rural poor,” said Harichandana Dasari, district collector, Narayanpet.
The project which has been started in association with Telangana Information Technology Association (TITA), in first phase, will be launched in 39 villages of Makthal mandal in Narayanpet District.
According to officials,the aim of the project is to ensure Telemedicine services to rural citizens.
“Makthal will be recorded as the first mandal in the country to have 100% access to Telemedicine,” read a statement issued by District collectorate office Narayanpet. According to officials, lives can be saved with T - CONSULT" Project.
“Recently a pregnant lady lost her life in the district due to delay in approaching a gynecologist. This project will put an end to such incidents,” said an official. Jeeyar Integrative Medical Services (JIMS) Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital offered free consultation and medicines to the villagers. Officials are planning to extend the program to remaining 10 districts in Narayanpet based on the success of the project in Makthal.
