Coronation Street fans may have spotted a familiar face on the soap in recent scenes on the ITV soap.

Newcomer Scott Emberton has arrived, and he's hinted he has major history with Johnny Connor.

Scott is played by actor Tom Roberts, and he first starred in scenes with Liz McDonald this week.

Those tuning in are very likely to recognise the actor, who is no stranger to soap land.

Tom has been in three of the UK's big soaps - Emmerdale, EastEnders and past roles in Corrie.

Coronation Street newcomer Scott Emberton is a familiar face

In fact, this is his fifth role on the ITV soap.

Tom played a health inspector twice in 2010, and played the same doctor in scenes in 2003 and 2016.

His two other roles on the ITV soap were Adam Barlow's solicitor in 2006, and another doctor three years later in 2009.

Tom Roberts has appeared in Emmerdale in a number of roles

Emmerdale has seen four roles portrayed by him, including one key character across five years.

Tom starred between 2013 and 2018 as detective DS Flanagan, with this possibly his most memorable role in the Dales.

He dealt with serial killer Cameron Murray in his time, while also appearing in plenty of other plots including informing Debbie Dingle her partner Pete Barton had a criminal past.

Tom Roberts played the real Chris Wright on EastEnders

His other Emmerdale roles include stints as Zoe Tate's doctor in 2002, doctor Andrew Dakin in 2009 who met with Carl and Lexi King to discuss their IVF treatment, and Louise Appleton's date Oliver in 2007.

A further role saw him play Gavin, a cancer patient, in 2006 with him featuring in scenes with Sam Dingle's late wife Alice.

Over to EastEnders, and fans may recall Tom played Chris Wright who was supposed to be the new manager of The Queen Vic pub - only for Alfie Moon to steal his identity and the position.
