    3M sues distributor for alleged price gouging of N95 respirators in New York

    • 3M Co (MMM.N) said it filed a lawsuit against Performance Supply LLC on Friday, alleging that the New Jersey-based company had posed as an authorized vendor of 3M-branded N95 respirators and offered millions of them for sale to New York City officials at prices as much as 600% over the list price.
    • N95 respirators, which are designed to filter 95% of airborne particles, are among the personal protective equipment most needed now by medical professionals as they battle the coronavirus outbreak. New York City has become the epicenter of the global pandemic.

    • Railways has transported around 6.75 lakh wagons carrying goods including about 4.50 lakh wagons with essential commodities such as foodgrains, salt, sugar, edible oil, coal and petroleum products since March 23, a statement from the national transporter said Friday.
    • From April 2-8, it delivered a total of 2,58,503 wagons containing commodities out of which 1,55,512 wagons carried essential items.

    • The Assam government has sealed a mosque in Guwahati where three persons who later tested positive for COVID-19 had stayed to attend a religious congregation last month, Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Friday.
    • Two of them had returned to Assam after attending a Tablighi Jamaat congregation in Delhi's Nizamuddin area, which emerged as the biggest hotspot of coronavirus in the country.
    • The third stayed with them at the Athgaon Kabarsthan Masjid and accompanied one of them to Dhubri, Sharma said at a press conference.

    110 people arrested in Kashmir for violating lockdown

    • Police arrested 110 people from different areas of Kashmir on Friday for violating the lockdown imposed to contain the spread of coronavirus.
    • Acting tough against the violators, the police in Srinagar, Bandipora and Kupwara districts arrested 110 people and seized eight vehicles, a spokesperson of the force said.
    • In Srinagar, the police arrested 26 people, including seven shopkeepers, from the Shaheed Gunj, Nowgam, Khanyar and Parimpora areas of the city for defying the lockdown and also seized two vehicles, the spokesperson said.

    • Majority of urban Indians (83 per cent) are optimistic of the Covid-19 crisis ending and normalcy returning by June 2020, according to a survey.
