PRAYAGRAJ: The cops in neighbouring Pratapgarh district were on Friday in a piquant situation after over two dozen devotees arrived to offer milk to lord Shiva at a temple in Shamsherganj block under the limits of Jethwara police station of the district after hearing that rumour that idol of lord Shiva was thought to be drinking milk offerings.
After being alerted, the Jethwara police rushed the spot and found that one Rajesh Kaushal , a resident of Shamsherganj had spread the rumour that the idol of Lord Shiva at a temple, located in front of his house, was drinking milk.
This took no time for devotees who started rushing towards the temple with a glass of milk and police had to face tough time to deal the situation.
The police have , however, booked as many as 13 persons including the rumour monger under section 188 of IPC ( violating the section of 144 of IPC).
Inspector ( Jethwara) Vinod Kumar Yadav said “ Police have identified as many as 13 persons who had allegedly violated the lockdown orders and were later booked under section 188 of IPC. He further added police teams were also identifying others who too rushed the temple to offer milk to lord Shiva idol.
The police have also made an appeal to locals not to trap in any sort of rumour and follow the lock down orders strictly or they would be booked under appropriate sections.
