Centre begins district-wise mapping of Covid-19 curve
- The Centre has started district-wise mapping of the spread, spike and containment curve of Covid-19 — a move that would help the government devise an informed exit strategy from the nationwide lockdown.
- A district-wise demarcation — colour-coded red, yellow/orange or green —on the basis of the number of cases and week-by-week virus trajectory is being done through a fresh survey with the help of district collectors and IAS officers on the ground.
Britain has 2,295 spare critical care beds
- Britain’s National Health Service has not been overwhelmed by the coronavirus pandemic and now has 2,295 spare critical care beds, Health Minister Matt Hancock said on Sunday.
- “Today marks a sombre day in the impact of this disease as we join the list of countries who have seen more than 10,000 deaths related to coronavirus,” he told a news briefing.
US health experts stress need for widespread coronavirus testing
- The United States needs to ramp up testing for the coronavirus as the White House considers when and how to lift stay-at-home restrictions and lockdowns triggered by the pandemic, U.S. health experts said on Sunday.
- More than 2 million tests have been done in the country so far, but the tests are not available to many who need them, said Dr. Stephen Hahn, commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration.

A 56-year-old assistant-sub inspector of the Delhi Police has tested positive for coronavirus, police said on Sunday.
Pakistani prime minister appeals for debt relief to combat coronavirus fallout
- Pakistan has appealed to international stakeholders for urgent debt relief for developing countries so they can deal more effectively with the economic fallout from the coronavirus pandemic, the government said on Sunday.
- Pakistan has recorded 5,183 cases of the virus, with 88 deaths. The country's already-struggling economy has been hit hard by nationwide preventive lockdowns that have brought economic activity to a halt and caused widespread unemployment.

A man who had attended a religious congregation in Delhi last month tested COVID-19 positive in Bhavanipur Khali area in Badaun district, following which 14 adjoining villages were sealed, officials said on Sunday.
Retailers want govt to bring back migrant workers to augment supply chain
- Retailers and consumer companies want the government to run special trains and buses to bring back thousands of migrant workers to augment the currently hamstrung supply chain for essential items.
- Also, retailers are requesting the government to allow fashion and luxury outlets, and even malls to open in low-exposure-risk areas, even as there are indications that the lockdown would be extended, but with a plan to gradually exit it.

Count of COVID-19 patients in Thane district reaches 186
As 17 more people tested coronavirus positive on Sunday, the tally of such patients in Thane district of Maharashtra has risen to 186, officials said.

Odisha declares more areas as containment zones
- With fresh COVID-19 cases reported in hitherto untouched regions of Odisha, the state government on Sunday declared more areas as containment zones to check the spread of the disease, officials said.
- The administration will conduct surveillance on residents of the areas and trace the persons with whom four new COVID-19 patients had come in contact with, they said.
MP: COVID-19 cases rise to 572; death toll 44
- With 40 more testing positive for coronavirus in Madhya Pradesh on Sunday, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the state climbed to 572, Health department officials said.
- Simultaneously, four more persons have died in the state, taking the COVID-19 death toll to 44, they said.

Mizoram has enough stock of PPEs: Official
- Mizoram has enough stock of personal protective equipment (PPE) for health workers to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, an official of the state Health department said on Sunday.
- State Nodal officer of Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) and epidemiologist Dr Pachuau Lalmalsawma told PTI that the state has enough stock of PPEs to meet urgent requirement as of now.

- The number of coronavirus cases in Jammu rose to 48 on Sunday as four more persons tested positive for the infection, officials said.

ICMR seeks participation in trial to study efficacy of convalescent plasma in COVID-19 patients
- The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has sought participation in a randomised controlled study to assess the safety and efficacy of convalescent plasma to limit complications associated with COVID-19.
- Similarly, it has also sought participation in the study on therapeutic plasma exchange in improving the clinical status of COVID-19 patients.
- Convalescent plasma is an experimental procedure for COVID-19 patients.
