BHUBANESWAR: People in Bhadrak have showed thumbs up to the district police’s performance during the lockdown. An online survey conducted by the police showed that nearly 91 percent people appreciated the Bhadrak police’s call centre and social media cell for addressing their issues.
“We conducted a survey or opinion poll on Twitter and received positive feedback from people.
At least 487 people participated in the survey. We had asked people whether they were satisfied with our call centre and social media services. At least 91 percent of the participants gave us positive feedback,” said Bhadrak superintendent of police Rajesh Pandit.
Police were on the job of reaching out to the nine percent people who were unhappy with the services rendered by the police. “We have requested those people to send us the reasons of their unhappiness. We will definitely try to further improve our service,” Pandit said.
From March 27, the Bhadrak police’s call centre (dial 100) has been receiving at least 1300 distress calls every day. At least 15 police personnel of different ranks have been manning the call centre having five parallel connections. Mostly women police personnel manage the call centre from morning till evening whereas male cops take over the duty in night shift.
“Our Twitter handle has been helpful in reaching out to the people and disseminating vital information relating to Covid-19. We are updating our enforcement activities and dissuading people from spreading rumours on social media. Every day, our tweets are getting nearly 7,000 impressions and 1100 engagements. We are posting at least 60 replies to the queries of people daily,” Pandit said.
Notably, total three persons were tested positive for novel coronavirus in Bhadrak district out of which two have recovered. DGP Abhay last week visited Bhadrak and appreciated the efforts of the police in enforcing the lockdown and Covid-19 regulations.
