BHUBANESWAR: Mayurbhanj district police have purchased face shields for their personnel to protect themselves from Covid-19 infection during lockdown duty. At least 2,000 pieces of face safety gears have been procured for the cops from Surat.
“We have started distributing the face shields to our personnel. Our purpose is to ensure their safety during the Covid-19 outbreak.
The personnel were earlier exposed to possible infection during inspection of vehicles, examination of drivers and enforcement of the lockdown order. The face visors will now protect our personnel,” Mayurbhanj superintendent of police Smit Parmar said.
The state police headquarters recently asked the commissionerate police and SPs in districts to purchase safety kits for protection of the personnel on lockdown duty. The commissionerate police and a few districts have already purchased the face shields and masks for their personnel. Sources said each face shield costs between Rs 170 and Rs 200.
