RAJKOT: The cyber crime cell Amreli
police on Wednesday returned Rs 29,396 to a fraud victim who was duped of Rs 48,000.
Complainant Piyush Rathod said he had received a call from an unidentified fraudster who said that his bank had decided to wave off three monthly instalments of his loan as per the government’s
directive during
coronavirus lockdown period.
“The accused asked for the details of Rathod’s bank account and withdrew Rs 48,000 in different transactions.
We swung into action after registering the complaint and found that the fraudster had deposited money in different e-wallets. We were able to salvage Rs 29,396 which we returned to Rathod,” said an official from the Amreli cyber cell.
