MYSURU/ MADIKERI: Kodagu’s only positive case (P-15) from Virajpet taluk, discharged after treatment last week, developed fever and has other symptoms associated with Covid-19. He voluntarily returned to the hospital in Madikeri on Wednesday where he has been isolated.
While samples of the 35-year-old man have been sent to a Mysuru lab for testing, this sparked fears of relapse and spread of the virus in Kodagu, which was out of the list of Covid-19 affected districts.

It’s the first case in Karnataka where a person discharged after treatment has come back with symptoms.
Kodagu DC Annies Kanmani Joy said the test results are expected on Thursday. She said his fever could be due to other reasons and asked people not to panic. “After his discharge, he was in home quarantine,” she said, allaying fears that he could have spread the virus to others in the village.
The patient from Kondangeri tested positive on March 19 and was treated at the Covid hospital in Madikeri. He was discharged on April 7 after his samples tested negative. He was isolated at home as per the protocol. Following flu-like symptoms, he came back to the authorities and asked to be tested. He was moved to a special isolation ward, away from other suspected cases.
His primary contacts are also under observation. P-15 had come from Dubai on March 15 and developed symptoms within 48 hours.
