PATNA: A newly married man was arrested at Sakra village under the Kudra police station area in Kaimur district on Wednesday on charges of snatching cellphone from a youth so that he can talk to his wife during the lockdown period.
The arrested man was identified as Sanjay Kharwar (20). “One of Sanjay’s friends, Mannu Kharwar (23), was also arrested,” Kaimur SP Dilnawaz Ahmed said.
The SP added that Sanjay got married in February.
However, his wife was staying at her paternal house as the ‘gauna’ ritual had been postponed due to the lockdown, he said.
“As Sanjay was keen to talk to his wife, he discussed the matter with Mannu. Mannu then snatched a cellphone from a youth, who had gone out of his house to buy essential items. Sanjay was also present at the spot when the incident occurred. Mannu then gave the cellphone to Sanjay to talk to his wife,” the SP said.
