LUCKNOW: In one of the largest ever two-wheeler recoveries,
Barabanki police recovered as many as 200 bikes and nine four-wheelers from
Zaidpur police station area.
The police made the
recovery from Zaidpur police station area after the arrest of three persons-Mohammed Shahim, Firoz and Suhail.
Police was working upon the case from last ten days when it had arrested three persons and also seized 100 bikes from them on April 7.
The police also said that gang has purchased and sold over 500 bikes by fudging documents and selling it at throwaway price in rural areas.
Explaining the modus operandi of the gang, Superintendent of police, Barabanki,
Arvind Chaturvedi said that the miscreants arrested in connivance with employees of two-wheeler agencies first purchased a two-wheeler on genuine document.
Later, they obtained financing documents and then fudged them with photograph of a different person to purchase another vehicle. Later, sold second one in rural areas at throwaway prices. “Informing the buyer that it is cheaper as it has been bought from army CSD canteen and it is in the name of other person and would be transferred after one year,” said Chaturvedi.
However, when the banks approached the original buyer for non-payment of installment. The miscreants confronted banks of having purchased only one motorcycle. Now bank has no clue about the owner/user of the second bike, said the officer. The officer also said that mastermind of the gang
Ravi Massey is on the run.
