Covid-19: Army extends support to Narela quarantine centre in Delhi

A team of army doctors and nursing staff that were assisting the civil administration at Narela Quarantine Camp since April 1 has now taken over to manage the facility completely from 8am to 8pm, hence relieving the civil doctors.

Narela Quarantine Centre in Delhi is among the largest centres in the country for managing the Covid-19 suspects.
CHANDIGARH: A team of army doctors and nursing staff that were assisting the civil administration at Narela Quarantine Camp since April 1 has now taken over to manage the facility completely from 8am to 8pm, hence relieving the civil doctors.
The civilian doctors and medical staff are now required to manage the facility only during the night. The army team comprising 40 personnel including six medical officers along with paramedical staff have volunteered to stay within the premises only.
Narela Quarantine Centre in Delhi is among the largest centres in the country for managing the Covid-19 suspects.
The camp was established by the Delhi government in mid March, 2020. Initially, 250 foreign nationals returning from friendly foreign countries, were kept in this centre. Between March 31 and April 1, an additional strength of approximately 1,000 members of Tablighi Jamaat were brought here from Nizamuddin Markaz.
A spokesperson of the army informed that professional approach of the army medical team has won the hearts of inmates. They have been very cooperative and positive to the army medical team thereby facilitating smooth handling of all medical procedures. Presently, 932 members of Markaz Jammat are being taken care in the facility. Out of them, 367 have tested Covid positive.
There has been tremendous synergy with civil adminstration to run this entire facility. Army will continue to fight with resolve and contribute wholeheartedly to the national efforts against the Corona pandemic for safety of all our citizens, he added.
