NEW DELHI: After a vegetable vendor in south Delhi was found Covid-19 positive on Thursday, the district authorities have decided to screen all vendors so that the possible spread of the coronavirus can be checked. "A vegetable vendor under ward No. 3 of Mehrauli under South district has been found to be Covid-19 positive. From the investigation, it seems that he had not been setting up his cart after he developed symptoms.
He was also not a part of shifted vegetable mandi that has been set up at DTC Terminal," said south district DM BM Mishra.
The close contacts of the vegetable vendor have been checked and are presently at Terapanth Bhawan, a Covid care centre of the Delhi government. The district administration is trying to further trace all people who bought vegetables from the vendors.
The DM meanwhile appealed to all citizens to check with their vendor about their health status like flue like symptoms etc before starting purchase. "We are screening all vendors but then vigil by everyone will deter someone who is sick and still running such shop or stall," DM said in a general appeal issued on Thursday.
The DM, however, asked people to not abuse or misbehave with the vendors. "Be cordial and assuring so that they come up with their status. Abandon purchase form such vendor. Immediately notify us in that case with all details. We will screen and test," Mishra said.
