Virtual
concerts, gigs and live shows by musicians across the globe have been keeping people entertained during this lockdown.
Hitesh Madan,
musician and band member of Eka, took inspiration from these events and came up with the idea of
balcony concerts, that are now not just popular in his neighbourhood in Rajouri Garden, but are also going viral online.
He did his first balcony
concert on March 22, the day of Janta Curfew, with his two sons Ariv and Advay.
The effort of keeping his neighbours entertained was appreciated by his fans and he soon started getting requests for a second such concert, which he did on April 19. “We had a lot of requests for Punjabi
music and some old Bollywood songs and we had to especially prepare for those in the second concert. While the first concert was like an impromptu gig, the second one was a planned event and it took us a day to organise that concert. Both my sons had to especially prepare to perform the playlist for the second concert, which was an hour-long event,” says Hitesh, who is overwhelmed by the response that he has received from his fans from across the country. “This is such a new experience for me and both my sons, who are now also known as musicians. We are planning to have our third balcony concert on May 2, the day before the last day of lockdown,” says Hitesh.
