VARANASI: Three members of a family were quarantined at Chhatarpur village in Bardah area of
Azamgarh district on Thursday after a newlywed couple of the family tested positive in
Rajasthan. The local police and health personnel swung into action after receiving the information. The entire village has been sealed for screening.
According to reports, a youth from Gangapur district of Rajasthan had married a girl of Chhatarpur village on March 23.
The groom stayed at his in-law’s place after the nationwide lockdown was announced. On April 14, the couple left for Rajasthan and reached the state on April 18.
They were stopped at the border and their samples were collected for testing. When the officials found that the couple travelled from Azamgarh, they informed the local administration.
The police and health team reached Chhatarpur and sealed the village. Azamgarh district magistrate N P Singh said that the family has been quarantined, and all measures were being taken to sanitize the locality and screen the people.
