JHANSI/GORAKHPUR: Jhansi and Gorakhpur were on Monday became the new entrants to the list of UP districts recording Covid-19 cases.
With this, the total number of affected districts in the state reached 60. Of these, 10 districts have zero active cases.
District magistrate Jhansi Andra Vamsi informed that the first case of Covid-19 was reported in the district after due confirmation from the state designated lab.

“The patient is a 59-year-old woman who has been quarantined. Samples of his family members are being sent for testing while contact tracing is underway,” he said.
Coronavirus also reached Gorakhpur. Principal, BRD Medical College, Ganesh Kumar confirmed that one 50 years old man of Hata Buzurg village under Urua area has tested positive for coronavirus.
“He was brought to the medical college on Sunday evening following complaints of chest pain and breathing difficulty. The patient has history of high blood pressure and diabetes. While management started, swab sample was sent for testing which was found to be positive later,” the principal said.

As per reports, the man returned from Delhi on Sunday and he was earlier admitted to Sagdarjung hospital for treatment of diabetes and blood pressure and after the hospital referred him to other hospital his attendants took him back home.
At around 5pm when his condition deteriorated, he was rushed to Urua PHC from where he was referred to BRD Medical College.
“The family members and those who came in contact of the person will be quarantined. The entire area is sealed and sanitized,” said commissioner, Gorakhpur, Jayant Narlirkar told TOI.
