The Bihar Judicial Services Association (BJSA) has written to Uttar Pradesh government's chief secretary seeking disciplinary and penal action against Deoria SP Shreepati Mishra and a sub-inspector Vinod Yadav for allegedly humiliating additional district judge (ADJ) Ramayan Ram of Siwan by keeping him waiting for at least five hours on the state border before he was allowed to travel further to his native district Ghazipur to attend the last rites of his younger brother.

PATNA: The Bihar Judicial Services Association (BJSA) has written to Uttar Pradesh government's chief secretary seeking disciplinary and penal action against Deoria SP Shreepati Mishra and a sub-inspector Vinod Yadav for allegedly humiliating additional district judge (ADJ) Ramayan Ram of Siwan by keeping him waiting for at least five hours on the state border before he was allowed to travel further to his native district Ghazipur to attend the last rites of his younger brother.

Association secretary Ajit Kumar Singh said association was not only irked by the insensitive behaviour of Deoria police, but was also annoyed as matter was deliberately leaked to the media after which a Hindi vernacular in Deoria published report in distasteful language demeaning the senior judicial officer.
Singh said besides writing to UP chief secretary on Tuesday, he had also sent copy of letter via email to central government cabinet secretary, Bihar’s chief secretary, additional chief secretary (Home), DGPs of both states, DMs of Siwan and Deoria and concerned district and sessions judge under whom ADJ is posted.
He said Ram’s younger brother was an advocate at Allahabad high court and died after suffering sudden cardiac arrest.
“As he had three daughters, the ADJ was to perform his last rites. But it was delayed for several hours. He reached at 8pm that day,” he said.
Singh said Siwan DM had issued pass on April 24 with reason clearly mentioned on it that applicant was going to attend funeral of his younger brother in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh.
“The ADJ was kept waiting for five hours. His repeated requests to Mishra and Yadav went unheard,” Singh said.
“I spoke to Deoria DM on the matter. He cited reason of taking abundant caution as Siwan was a coronavirus hotspot but he had no reply that how could a pass issued by another DM be defied and then why he was allowed later,” Singh said.
