LUCKNOW: In the fresh list of Covid-19 hot spots issued by the Union ministry of health and family welfare, UP’s Ghaziabad and Shamli moved from red to orange zone.
Health officials attributed the change to significant improvement in the district which was once among high burden districts, along with neighbouring Gautam Budh Nagar.
As on date, the total number of cases reported in Ghaziabad stood at 62 of which 44 have recovered.
Likewise, of the 27 cases reported in Shamli till now, 24 have recovered while only three are under treatment.
The first such list was released on April 14. In the new list, circulated to chief secretaries of all states, the ministry increased the number of red districts in UP from nine to 19. It means that the burden of coronavirus was high in these districts.
The number of districts in the orange zone now is 36 while the remaining 20 districts were placed in the green category.
Districts in the red zone include: Agra, Lucknow, Saharanpur, Kanpur Nagar, Firozabad, Gautam Budh Nagar, Bulandshahr, Meerut, Rae Bareli, Varanasi, Bijnor, Amroha, Sant Kabir Nagar, Aligarh, Muzaffarnagar, Aligarh Muzaffarnagar, Rampur, Mathura and Bareilly.
