HISAR: After a day’s struggle, a Shramik special train with 1,200 labourers left from Hisar to Katihar in Bihar on Wednesday afternoon.
The railways earned a total of Rs 7.68lakh from the state and central government at the rate of Rs 640 per passenger. As many as 50 workers were accommodated in each bogie to ensure social distancing. All workers were given tickets but were not charged fare.
As per the schedule, Hisar deputy commissioner Priyanka Soni reached the railway station on Wednesday afternoon with her team and then the registered labourers were brought to the railway station in Haryana Roadways buses.

The health department team screened the workers with thermal scanners and the police made labourers follow social distancing at railway platforms and other places. Workers were given food packets and water bottles, while children were given toys, biscuits and chocolates.
Railway officials said all the 24 bogies, the crew and other workers were sanitised before boarding. The workers will be given food packets and water bottles in Delhi by IRCTC. After reaching Katihar, they will be taken to their homes by following various instructions. Afterwards, the entire train, crew and other employees will be re-sanitised.
