Seven die in four road accidents in Tamil Nadu’s Krishnagiri district

KRISHNAGIRI: Seven people died in four road accidents in Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu on Friday.
One of the accidents took place near Kandikuppam on the Chennai-Bengaluru national highway. Three textile workers, who were heading to their work place in Bengaluru on a two-wheeler, were hit by an unidentified vehicle near Chettipalli Koot Road. They died on the spot.
The deceased have been identified as Vignesh, 28, Kuppan, 60, and Chennaiya Chetty, 70, from Kappalvadi near Burgur.
The accident happened around 4am.
The Kandikuppam police registered a case and were on the lookout for the driver of the vehicle that hit the two-wheeler and sped away.
Another accident took place near Soolagiri. A Munusamy, 35, of Tuticorin and T Dinesh Kumar, 25 of Tiruvarur were replacing their container truck’s punctured wheel around 4am. They were heading to Bengaluru from Chennai. A speeding SUV from Kerala rammed the rear side of the truck.
Munusamy died on the spot and Dinesh breathed his last while he was on the way to Krishnagiri Government Hospital.
In the third accident, K Mutharasan, 39 of Ambedkar Nagar in Kaveripattinam was killed after he was hit by a goods carrier vehicle from behind.
In the fourth accident, P Kumar, 45, of Periyamuthur village died on the spot at Kavaripattinam, after he was knocked down by an unidentified vehicle. The KRP Dam police registered a case.
