PATIALA: The two relatives of the 45-year-old bus driver, who tested positive and was isolated in Gurdaspur district on his return from Nanded Sahib, had also tested positive of Covid-19.
The district health authorities in Fatehgarh Sahib are suspecting that the driver was infected even before he left for Nanded Sahib to evacuate the pilgrims on Punjab government instructions.

According to the health officials, the Punjab Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) bus driver had left for Nanded Sahib on April 24 and returned to Gurdaspur on April 28, following which he was quarantined along with the pilgrims and his samples were taken for testing. He reported positive on May 1, said health officials.
The health officials traced the contacts of the driver and took samples of his family according to protocol. The nephew of the driver, a conductor in a private bus and a frequent visitor to the PRTC driver's house in Khamano in Fatehgarh Sahib, and his niece had tested positive.
It seems that the PRTC bus driver was infected even before leaving to Nanded Sahib, as his 34-year-old male nephew two days ago. Driver's 26-year-old niece tested positive on Saturday. However, the other family members have reported negative," said senior medical officer of Khamano, Dr Harbhajan Ram Mandi.
Fatehgarh Sahib civil surgeon Dr N K Aggarwal too said it is more probable that the driver had contracted the infection before leaving for Nanded Sahib.

In Fatehgarh Sahib, five more, including three combine workers from Lohar Majra, Alipur Sondhiyan village and Lakhanpur villages reported positive, taking the tally to 28.
In Ropar, four cases were reported positive on Saturday, including one from Chamkaur Sahib and three from Anandpur Sahib divisions. Deputy commissioner Sonali Giri said so far more than 670 samples were taken for testing in the district and 18 were positive, including three residents of Ropar district who tested positive in other districts and undergoing treatment there.
