HYDERABAD: Had she not gone to that old age home during this corona forced solitude, those impoverished old aged inmates of Veerabrahmendra orphans old age home known as VB home in Karimnagar would have disappeared from this world by now.
Because the home that sheltered them on humanitarian grounds ran out of stock of all essentials. Lockdown has made things worse for them as sponsors stopped coming forward and there were no suppliers either.
The home gets no funds from government agencies.

It was at this time, Anupama Chakravarthy, the principal district judge and also the chairperson for district legal services authority (DLSA) at Karimnagar received a call from GV Subrahmanyam the member secretary of the state legal services authority conveying the intent of chief justice Raghavendra Singh Chauhan and executive Chairman of the state legal services authority Justice M S Ramachandra Rao asking her and her team to go all out to help the needy. Visit as many old age homes, children homes, orphan homes as possible. Ensure supplies to them.
Help the stranded migrants get food, medicines, water and shelter. This was the message she got. Upon being told about nil stock at the VB Home she sought donations from the city’s well to do. Jayapal Reddy of local Mythri channel came forward and a few others too came forward to assist her.
As a result, now stock of rice, oil, soaps, wheat flour etc sufficient for two months was replenished at the home. District collector Shashank and police commissioner Kamalasan Reddy too assisted her I this noble task. They are also functioning as ex-officio members of DLSA. Anupama also verified with them about the stranded migrants. They told her that a separate facility was created at the bypass road function hall to feed the migrants everyday. She organised a programme for poor advocates and handed over rice and groceries to them.
