Recovered patients surpass active cases
LUCKNOW: For the first time, the number of Covid patients who have recovered outnumbered the active cases in Uttar Pradesh on Monday. While the total number of persons who have defeated Corornavirus reached 1758, the number of active cases reduced to 1735.
Meanwhile, 109 new cases and one death being reported on Monday, the overall tally and death toll reached 3,576 and 80 respectively.
Ambedkarnagar and Ballia joined the list of affected districts with two and one case each. With this, the virus reached 74 out of 75 districts of UP. The health officials said that in eight districts, all patients have been discharged.
Health officials in Lalitpur said that the death took place late on May 8. CMO Dr Pratap Singh informed that she was a contractual staff posted in the district hospital. Her Covid status was cleared late on Saturday night. Thereafter, 26 hospital staff have been quarantined.
Among the 109 new cases, at least 27 were home-bound migrant workers. In this regard, health officials said: “Large-scale preparations are being made to handle the influx of migrants from different states and augment treatment capacities in the state.”
Agra recorded maximum 14 cases during the day. It was followed by Meerut which reached the third position with 13 new cases. In Hathras, 10 cases were reported and all of them were from a single family. Four cases were reported in Ghaziabad while five cases each were recorded in Sitapur, Barabanki and Bulandshaher.
Three persons each tested positive in Rampur, Kannauj, Auraiya, Basti, Jaunpur and Varanasi while Siddhartnagar, Aligarh, Sambhal and Mathura reported two cases each.

Fatehpur, Kanpur Dehat, Jhansi, Jalaun, Mainpuri, Sant Kabir Nagar, Amroha, Prayagraj, Rae Bareli, Ghazipur, Baghpat and Lakhimpur Kheri recorded one new patient each. Health officials also re-assigned some cases. The patient in Ayodhya was transferred to Bahraich while two cases from Lucknow were recorded in Kanpur Dehat and Pratapgarh respectively.
