INDORE: As hundreds of migrant labourers are leaving for their homes, over 100 buses of city colleges and schools have been roped in to help them.
The migrants are also being provided with slippers, food packets, and masks for their safety.
"We had given a proposal to the district administration to make a chain of the buses as all the buses of the educational institutions have not been getting used by the institutions due to the lockdown," said chairman of Indore Institute of Law (IIL), Akshay Bam who started the initiative.

At present, the district administration has given permission from Manpur to Dewas and buses has started ferrying migrants from Monday, he added.
It was decided that these buses will drop the migrants for 50 kms and just like a relay race, some other institute's bus will take them to the next 50 kms as this will not be bothersome for any particular institution.
Considering the fact that most of these migrants have been coming from Maharashtra and are leaving for Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, these buses have been leaving them till a certain distance permitted by the administration, said Bam.
It is also being made certain that only one migrant sits on a seat meant for two people to follow the social distancing.

The buses are also being sanitized, the driver, conductors and those coordinating with food packets and administration too are being given PPE kits for their safety as a precautionary measure.
All these facilities are provided in a single point making it hassle-free for all the migrants.
"We are trying to help the migrants and contribute to the society from our end," said president of Indore's private unaided school association, Anil Dhuper said.
