Being vocal about local: Jhansi entrepreneur shows the way

JHANSI: It was a dream come true for Udita Gupta, a woman entrepreneur from Jhansi who runs a unit manufacturing soft toys, when her plan to expand her business got a fillip on Thursday.
After an interaction with chief minister Yogi Adityanath during his video conference with entrepreneurs across the state, Udita was provided a cheque for Rs 50 lakh loan for expansion of her business under the state government's 'one district, one product' (ODOP) scheme.
The state government has been promoting soft toys as Jhansi's product under ODOP scheme. After receiving the cheque from Jhansi DM Andra Vamsi, Udita, who employs 400-500 poor woman in her unit, said: "It is tough for a woman to establish herself in any business venture. I always wanted to help poor woman who want to be self-reliant."
"Our district was allotted soft toys under ODOP scheme in 2018 but due to poor and unorganised working, it could never make its place despite the fact that soft toys have a huge market. I grabbed the opportunity and tried to help other women. The endeavor also helped in creating a name for the city," she said.
