Lockdown: 330 guest workers sent to Bihar from Tamil Nadu’s Ariyalur

TRICHY: As many as 330 guest workers were sent back to Bihar from Ariyalur district of Tamil Nadu by train on Saturday.
Ariyalur district administration officials said the guest workers were employed at private cement plants. “These guest workers from Bihar requested the district administration to send them home, and we began to process their request. Close to Rs 3 lakh was spent on train tickets and food for the 330 workers,” the official said.

After lunch, the workers travelled from Ariyalur to Villupuram in 14 buses. From Villupuram, they boarded a train to Bihar.
Before sending them home, district collector D Rathna visited the guest workers, who were accommodated at Ariyalur sports complex.
