RAJKOT: The long queues in Rajkot’s market seen especially at
paan shops and
fafda shops following a relaxation in lockdown on Tuesday. The market of Rajkot opened after 58 days.
Rajkot Municipal Corporation has announced odd-even formula for the shopkeepers.
Rajkot’s people are known for its habit of chewing mava (lime-laced
battle nuts mixed with tobacco) and they are passionate about fafda in the morning. The people were deprived of these two things for the last two months.
The shops opened early on Tuesday and long queues were seen at
paan and fafda shops.
The police had to be deployed at few places to maintain law and order and social distancing. Sunil Kanabar a fafda shop owner in racecourse park of Rajkot said, "As I opened the shop in the morning there was an uncontrollable crowd. The customers were demanding fresh fried fafda with green Chili and Chatni".
A battle nut wholesaler in old city area had to shut his shops soon after opening because of long queues of paan shop owners. As per the relaxation, the shops and establishments in Rajkot are allowed to open from Tuesday barring containment area in Jangleshar.
The auto-rickshaw is also allowed with two passengers.
