Udupi reports 4 Covid-19 positive, one from Chitradurga diagnosed with SARI

Udupi reported five cases of Covid-19 including that of a teenager from Chitradurga who was in KMC Hospital for cancer treatment. Dakshina Kannada, on the other hand, had a case-free day after reporting two positive cases on Monday.

UDUPI/MANGALURU: Udupi reported five cases of Covid-19, including that of a teenager from Chitradurga who was in KMC Hospital for cancer treatment. Dakshina Kannada, on the other hand, had a case-free day after reporting two positive cases on Monday.
G Jagadeesha, Udupi deputy commissioner, said that four out of the five positive cases were people with travel history to Mumbai. “These people were kept in quarantine on arrival from the neighbouring state,” the DC said, adding that their swab reports turned out to be positive.
These include P-1286, a 24-year-old male, P-1287, 24-year-old female, P-1288, an 8-year-old boy and P-1289, a 38-year-old male. They have been shifted to the designated Covid hospital.
The other case is that of a 17-year-old girl who was admitted to Kasturba Hospital on May 16 for cancer treatment and had severe acute respiratory infection (SARI). She tested positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday. The district presently has 13 active cases and four have been discharged so far. The district has also reported death of one patient, who was confirmed positive after death.
In Dakshina Kannada, deputy commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh on Tuesday notified Gundalike in Yeyyadi of Kadri village in Mangaluru taluk as an active containment zone in connection with P-1234, who was found positive on Monday. The zone has 14 residential houses with a population of 48. Dakshina Kannada as on date has 32 active cases. The district on the other hand has reported 5 deaths to the pandemic and 17 discharges.
