GREATER NOIDA: Fifty three
Vietnamese students who were pursuing post graduation in Buddhist studies at
Gautam Budh University left for their country on Tuesday. The transport facility was organised by the Vietnamese Embassy.
Two Vietnamese
students of Sharda University were also in the group — making the total 55. The international students had continued to stay inside the campus all through the lockdown period even as other students had left the premises.
“The paperwork and other arrangements were made over the last few weeks and we have very safely been able to help the students from
Vietnam reach their home,” GBU spokesperson, Arvind Singh said.
He added that the next batch of international students who are supposed to leave is a group of 33 students from Myanmar.
While students from Myanmar will have to travel from Greater Noida to Gaya by an Embassy bus before they can catch their flight home. Thirty three students studying at GBU, four students from Sharda, and rest from Meerut’s Subharti Institute will be leaving for Myanmar on May 23.
“The students have been provided with the necessary personal protection gear. They have been moved out on Tuesday,” Singh informed.
According to GBU, after the next batch leaves, there would be a set of about 20 PhD students who have decided to stay back while following the social distancing norms.
