NOIDA: Migrants travelling to different districts across UP are having a tough time crossing the tracks of the Dankaur railway station where lighting is a problem in absence of functional street lights which fail due to absence of electricity.
Further, shut toilets at the railway platform are also making it difficult for commuters-especially females- to relieve oneself while they await their train.

A visit to the railway station showed how the two toilets- one for the disabled persons and the other for the common public were found locked.
Officials said that the toilets were locked since most migrants are made to wait at the camp in Lakshmi Narayan Inter College at a distance of around 100 meters from the railway station where they continue to wait for hours together for buses.
While officials claimed that toilets had been arranged there, a visit to the spot on Wednesday evening showed that there were only gents’ toilets at the inter college and the moveable toilets for the women, were absent.
“All the migrants are first brought to the camp in the inter college where they keep sitting till the first lot awaiting for trains at the platform moves out. Later on, they are taken to the platforms,” an official said.

A female cop posted at the camp in the inter college told TOI that the moveable washrooms meant for usage of the migrants were taken away by the contractor due to some technical issues.
“The toilets have been taken away due to some issue. If you want to use, you can use the male washroom if nobody is there,” she said.
Reena Singh, a migrant who had been waiting for the train towards Mau told TOI she reached the camp in a Roadways bus around 12pm. “I didn’t see any toilet here,” she said.
Other said that while eating arrangement was there, toilets were closed at the platform.
“If a woman feels like going to the toilet in the platform in emergency, where will she go? These toilets should be opened,” said Seema, wife of an HR executive in Greater Noida who was waiting for her train slated for travelling towards Akbarpur in UP.
Meanwhile, due to some non-functioning street lights at the railway station, some policemen have been resorting to using lights of their officials vehicles in their phones to ensure migrants enter the trains easily.
Pictures of cops using lights of their official vehicles to ensure migrants safely enter the trains, have come to fore.
When contacted, SDM (Sadar) Prasoon Dwivedi however told TOI that six-seater moveable washroom was arranged at the camp for usage by migrants.
“There was some technical issue, due to which, the toilets were removed in the evening. They have again been put back. The washroom for disabled can be opened if anyone wants to use by informing officials. The keys are with railway officials. We got a few lights fixed recently with the help of local gram panchayat,” he said.
Meanwhile, some pictures of migrants rushing out of a crammed camp near the Dadri railway station are doing rounds on social media where people can be seen crammed without the norms of social distancing being followed.
Dadri railway station is currently witnessing movement of migrants towards Bihar via trains.
