MYSURU: As Shakthivelu and Triveni got married at a temple near the Karnataka-Tamil Nadu border on Wednesday, cops were special guests - blessing the couple and ensuring the groom's party headed back to Mettupalayam and the bride's folk to Kodagu soon after.
Shakthivelu was to travel to Triveni's home in Gonikoppa in Kodagu for the wedding but with the recent ban on entry from TN, their plan seemed to be coming unstuck.
The couple then requested authorities to allow them to get married at the border. They tied the knot at a temple in Punjanur, about 4km from the TN border, under the watch of authorities.
Chamarajanagar sub-division deputy SP Mohan told TOI the marriage took place after Karnataka authorities allowed the bridegroom to enter close to the check-post. Relatives from both sides who attended the marriage wore masks and ensured distancing.
After the simple ceremony, both parties - including the newlywed husband and wife - headed back to their respective homes, officials said.
