Two cops injured in attack by group of people in UP's Bahraich

Two cops were injured after a group of people allegedly attacked a police team for not allowing them to offer prayers in a mosque on Friday.
LUCKNOW: Two cops were injured after a group of people allegedly attacked a police team for not allowing them to offer prayers in a mosque on Friday. Police have also lodged an FIR and arrested one Ati Ullah for inciting mobs to attack the cops.
Superintendent of police, Bahraich, Vipin Mishra, told TOI that around noon a group of people under Atiullah had gathered to offer prayers at Chhokar mosque in Huzurpur police station area.

“On the information a police team led by constables-Vinay Kumar and Ram Privesh reached and asked people to return to their homes citing appeals of the clerics and lockdown,” said Mishra.
However, the group of around 20 persons started pelting stones and bricks at the two. In the meantime, the cops informed the control room and a heavy force reached the spot immediately.
Mishra said Atiullah was arrested while others fled from the spot seeing heavy force. “We have registered a case of attacking public servant, lockdown violation, rioting, rioting with deadly weapons, epidemic act 1897, disaster management act 2005, act endangering personal safety of others, making atmosphere noxious to health,” said the SP.
