Uttar Pradesh Covid-19 tally crosses 6,000-mark

The state Covid tally crossed the 6,000 mark with 282 new cases being reported on Saturday. Majority of patients reported in last 24 hours were migrants.

LUCKNOW: The state Covid tally crossed the 6,000 mark with 282 new cases being reported on Saturday. Majority of patients reported in last 24 hours were migrants.
Jaunpur recorded the maximum number of cases for the second consecutive day. The district recorded 32 cases, including 22 migrants. Rampur followed
with 25 cases, including eight migrants who worked in Surat and remaining being their contacts.

UP also recorded three new deaths taking the covid toll to 155 even as 98 persons were discharged taking total number of recovered to 3,406.
Principal secretary health and family welfare Amit Mohan Prasad said state was taking all possible steps for early screening of patients so that spread is contained.
“We are increasing testing every day. In last 24 hours, 8,120 regular samples and 836 pool samples were tested in the state. It will be scaled up to 10,000 tests a day very soon,” he said.
“Inputs from Aarogya Setu app are being tracked regularly. Over two crore people in UP have downloaded it. Actionable alerts generated by the app were 30,994. The health department found 82 persons positive and isolated them at government centres,” he said.

He said the government has begun registration for covid-19 volunteers’ force from NCC, NSS and Nehru Yuva Kendra. Prasad also reiterated the importance of nigrani samities in containment of Covid-19 pandemic in state.
Besides Jaunpur, migrant also tested positive in Varanasi, Hardoi, Ambedkarnagar, Maharajganj, Etawah, Gorakhpur, Deoria, Mirzapur, Amethi, Pilibhit, Ayodhya, Sultanpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Rae Bareli, Prayagraj, Siddharthnagar, Ghazipur.
Other districts which reported new cases are Agra, Meerut, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Kanpur Nagar and Lucknow — districts which make up over 40% of total covid-19 burden in state. They collectively recorded just 50 cases. Ghaziabad saw 12 while Bareilly saw nine cases. Six patients each surfaced in Bijnore and Aligarh while four cases were reported in Sambhal.
Three patients surfaced in Shahjahanpur while two each were reported in Chandauli, Farrukhabad, Shamli and Kannauj. One case each was recorded in Mahoba, Kushinagar, Kanpur Dehat, Mau, Hathras, Jhansi, Hathras and Bulandshahr.
