NEW DELHI: Expressing concern over the rising number of Covid-19 cases in the capital, BJP on Monday said that Delhi government’s health facilities were inadequate to handle the crisis.
Leader of the Opposition in Delhi Assembly Ramvir Singh Bidhuri said the AAP government had claimed on April 7, when the total number of Covid cases were 525, that it had 2,950 beds in various hospitals and the number will increase to 30,000.
“Now, when the cases have reached 14,000, the AAP government has informed high court that there are 3,150 beds available in hospitals. The CM is making hollow claims while dealing with the pandemic,” Bidhuri said, while addressing a joint press conference with Rohini MLA Vijender Gupta and Karawal Nagar MLA Mohan Singh Bisht.
A Delhi government functionary said that the action plan for 30,000 beds was ready. “We have adequate number of beds right now. The CM in his press conference has explained that several beds were vacant while more were being added. The facility will be expanded and more beds added soon as per the requirement,” the functionary said.
