Gujarat death toll reaches 915 with 27 deaths; 361 new cases take total to 14,829

AHMEDABAD: Gujarat recorded 27 deaths in the past 24 hours, taking the state's death toll to 915. The state is second in India in terms of deaths of Covid-19 patients.
The deaths recorded included 23 from Ahmedabad and one each from Kheda, Panchmahal, Patan and Surat.
Gujarat recorded 361 new cases out of which 251 were from Ahmedabad, 36 from Surat and 31 from Vadodara.
With the new cases, the number of districts where the total Covid-19 positive cases is 100 or more is now eight.
With 503 patients discharged in a day, the state recorded a new high - out of total, 436 patients were from Ahmedabad alone. With the total discharge of 7137, Gujarat's recovery rate has rose to 48%. State health department officials said that the rate is much higher than national rate of 41.6%.
Gujarat carried out 2952 tests in 24 hours, taking the total to 1.89 lakh.
The state health department officials said that a total of 3.64 lakh persons are quarantined in the state out of which 3.53 lakh are under home quarantined and others are under government or institutional quarantine.
