PATNA: The state registered 14th Covid death as positive cases continued to surge on Tuesday. Altogether 231 more people tested positive, taking the total number of coronavirus cases in
Bihar to 2,968.
The man, who died due to the infection, belonged to Nalanda district. Nalanda DM Yogendra Kumar Singh told this newspaper over phone that the man died on Sunday, but his test report came positive on Monday evening.
As per the data released by state health department on Tuesday, the maximum 35 Covid-19 cases were reported from Rohtas, followed by 31 from Madhubani, 23 from
Khagaria, followed by 17 from Kishanganj, 15 from Banka, 14 from Bhagalpur and 12 cases each from
Saharsa and
Darbhanga districts.
Patna registered six fresh cases, including one each from Gaurichak and
Patna City and four from BMP-5. The man from Gaurichak is 49 years' old while the one found positive in Patna City is of 35 years. The four BMP men are in the age group of 23 to 57 years.
State health minister Mangal Pandey said in a statement that 800 people have recovered from the infection so far and there were 2,154 corona positive cases in the state.
