PATNA: Taking all preventive measures to contain the spread of Covid-19, Nalanda University (NU) has not only conducted classes in digital mode, but also completed online semester-end examinations. It has also begun the process of admission of students to the 2020-21 academic session.
According to NU sources, the university is far ahead of others in maintaining the academic calendar, despite the lockdown.

"Under the guidance of vice-chancellor Sunaina Singh, a well-knit plan for carrying out all academic activities - teaching, exams, evaluation, publication of results and admission of students - was laid down well before the lockdown. The faculty members took part in an online workshop and conducted virtual classes regularly through platforms like Google Classroom, Blackboard, Google Meet, Zoom, Skype and Webex. They also shared course materials with the students and evaluated dissertations and assignments," the sources said.
They added, "The NU authorities have ensured that essential services like electricity, water, internet, and doctors are available on the residential campus in Rajgir where students, faculty members and non-teaching staff live."
NU's admission committee is now busy admitting new students to different masters, PhD, diploma and certificate courses. The programmes run by NU include MBA in sustainable development and management, masters in ecology and environment studies, masters in Buddhist studies, philosophy and comparative religion, masters in historical studies as well as diploma and certificate courses in languages.
