LUCKNOW: Rajiv Gandhi National Aviation University in Amethi has issued advertisement for appointment to the post of registrar with the case of former registrar Jitendra Singh's still pending in the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court. The last date for sending applications for the registrar post as per the advertisement is June 4.
Applicants belonging to general and OBC category have to pay Rs 1,000 each along with their educational and experience certificates.
For candidates belonging to SC and ST category, no fees is to be paid.
Appointed by the President as first registrar of RGNAU in April 2019, Singh was sacked with immediate effect by the Union ministry of civil aviation on January 8. Singh was replaced by Garima Singh, who holds the director's position in the civil aviation ministry. Subsequently, Singh challenged the civil aviation ministry's decision in the high court terming it as arbitrary. Amidst the nation-wide lockdown, his case is pending with the high court. "Advertisement to the post of registrar when the matter is sub judice is making mockery of judiciary. What is the urgency to fill the post amidst the lockdown?" questioned Jitendra Singh.
When contacted, RGNAU vice-chancellor Amber Dubey, who is also joint secretary in the civil aviation ministry, said, "The appointment will be subject to the decision of the high court."
As per the advertisement, the appointment of the registrar shall be subject to the outcome of the writ petitionof Jitendra Singh versus Union of India and others, pending before the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court.
