84 more Covid-19 cases in Kerala, One Telangana native died

The highest single day spike in the Covid-19 cases were reported on Thursday in the state with 84 positive cases. The total number of positive cases reported till date have become 1088 of which 526 active cases are undergoing treatment in various hospitals.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The highest single day spike in the Covid-19 cases were reported on Thursday in the state with 84 positive cases. The total number of positive cases reported till date have become 1088 of which 526 active cases are undergoing treatment in various hospitals.
One death also was reported in Thiruvananthapuram. A Telangana native who had come with his family to Thiruvananthapuram by train from Rajasthan on May 22 had fallen ill and was admitted to the general hospital.
He died on Wednesday and his swab sample taken tested positive today.
Now Palakkad district has more number of active cases with 105 positive people undergoing treatment. In the second phase of the Covid-19 attack, Kasargod too had witnessed over 100 cases. Kannur has 93 active cases followed by 63 in Kasargod, 52 in Malappuram and Thiruvananthapuram with 36 cases.
Of the 84 new Covid-19 positive cases 18 are from Kasaragod, 16 from Palakkad, 10 from Kannur, eight from Malappuram, seven each from Thiruvananthapuram, and Thrissur, six each from Pathanamthitta and Kozhikode, three from Kottayam, and one each are from Kollam, Alappuzha and Idukki.
Among the new positive cases reported today, 31 people have come from abroad, 48 people from other states and five people got infected through contacts. 115297 persons are placed under surveillance, out of which 114305 are under home/institutional quarantine and 992 are admitted in designated isolation facilities.
Till date 60685 samples (including augmented samples) have been sent for testing out of which 58460 came as negative. Apart from above, 9937 samples were taken from priority groups like health care workers, persons with high social exposure, workers etc. as part of sentinel surveillance of which 9217 samples tested negative.
Test results of 3 Covid-19 patients under treatment have been declared negative. Of which two from Kozhikode (one Malappuram native) and one from Kannur.
