Migrants can get registered for travel to Uttar Pradesh and Bihar: Ludhiana deputy commissioner

Migrants who want to travel to Uttar Pradesh and Bihar and were not able to get themselves registered or their turn have not come yet, they can come directly to Guru Nanak Stadium, Ludhiana at 10 am on Friday and get themselves registered, said deputy commissioner Pradeep Kumar Agrawal on Thursday.

LUDHIANA: Migrants who want to travel to Uttar Pradesh and Bihar and were not able to get themselves registered or their turn have not come yet, they can come directly to Guru Nanak Stadium, Ludhiana at 10 am on Friday and get themselves registered, said deputy commissioner Pradeep Kumar Agrawal on Thursday.
He said that for the last 24 days, several trains carrying migrants have departed for UP, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and other states from Railway Station, Ludhiana.
He said that till date, around 3 lakh people have departed from Ludhiana in 194 trains. He informed that the migrants who had got themselves registered, the district administration had provided them with an opportunity to travel to their home states by making calls as well as sending SMS.
He informed that the district administration is providing another chance to the migrants who failed to get themselves registered or could not leave despite getting registered. He said that upon their registration, the district administration would raise demand for trains as per their numbers so that they can be sent to their hometowns at the earliest.
He further informed that the Punjab government is paying for travel, food, water and pickup service from designated points. He informed that the medical screening of all passengers is being done after which they are issued medical certificates by the District Administration.
