LUCKNOW: In the first ever export of mango from Varanasi region, three tonnes of Langda and Chausa variety of the fruit was sent to Dubai.
On Friday, the mango was packed at the Mango pack house, Rehman Kheda, Lucknow and sent to IGIA from Lucknow airport. It will further be sent to Dubai from IGIA on an Air India flight.
The consignment contained 1.5 tonnes each of Langda and Chausa.
The packing, phytosanitary certification and custom clearance was done in APEDA-approved Mango Pack house in Lucknow.

Assistant general manager of APEDA, CB Singh, said, “We are planning to send the next consignment of 10 MT of mangoes to EU in near future."
Singh added that few training programmes to boost export form Varanasi region and make Varanasi an ‘Agri Export Hub’ are also being planned.
Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) is an organization under the union ministry of commerce and industry which is responsible for promoting exports of agriculture and processed food products.
