Bihar gets respite from soaring mercury

People across the state have got slight respite from the scorching heat from last couple of days owing to a tad plunge in mercury column. Temperatures at most places in the state has gone below 40- degree mark and similar weather condition is expected over the net few days.

PATNA/GAYA: People across the state have got slight respite from the scorching heat from last couple of days owing to a tad plunge in mercury column. Temperatures at most places in the state has gone below 40- degree mark and similar weather condition is expected over the net few days.
Patna metrological centre has predicted that few districts in north and east Bihar are likely to receive rainfall with thunderstorm over the next three days.
The daily bulletin issued by Patna meteorological centre stated that light to moderate rainfall occurred at one or two places over north-east and south-west part of Bihar during last 24 hours.
Besides, day or maximum temperature is expected to hover in the range of 33- 38 degrees C at most places in the state at least till the end of this week. Patna, Bhagalpur, Purnea and Chhapra are likely to witness maximum temperature in the range of 33-35 degrees C, which will be comparatively bearable for residents.
Gaya was the hottest place in the state on Friday with maximum temperature recorded at 37.4 degrees C and similar temperature level is expected to prevail till June 1.
As the sun God went soft, Gaya administration eased the restrictions imposed on the movement of people and shop opening. On Tuesday, Gaya recorded a maximum temperature of 45.8 degree Celsius and the Gaya DM virtually imposed curfew between 12.00 - 4.00 pm banning all outings except in the case of medical emergency.
However, the order was revised on Thursday evening and the people in Gaya are now permitted to go out any time between 7.00 am and 7.00 pm. The revised order came into effect on Friday morning.
According to the revised order issued by district magistrate Abhishek Singh, different category of shops will now remain open between 10.00 am and 5.00 pm as per the notified category of the shops. Most of the shops will open on three days a week in a staggered manner. Such shops have been divided into two categories. One category of shops like foot wear, hair dressing, utensil etc will open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Shops selling construction material, sanitary fittings and hard ware etc will remain open six days a week (Monday -Saturday).
