BENGALURU: The
Karnataka high court on Friday directed
the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (
KSPCB) to place on record by next Tuesday the report on the level of pollution measured in
Bellandur and
Varthur lakes.
A division bench headed by Chief Justice Abhay Shreeniwas Oka also directed BDA to state whether roads are being constructed within the buffer zone of these lakes.
During the hearing, the petitioner’s counsel claimed that roads are being constructed within the buffer zone area and they have photographs to substantiate the same.
The PIL is filed by city based advocate Geetha Misra. She claims that the two lakes and Vrishabavathy river are near clean owing to stoppage of industrial activities during the Covid-19 related lockdown period and a direction needs to be given to KSPCB for maintaining the present position.
