NOIDA: Three constables deployed at police stations in Phase 3, Sector 49 and the office of DCP (traffic) have tested positive for Covid-19, officials said on Friday. Subsequently, 30 police officers have been sent to quarantine.
Earlier, a sub-inspector deployed with the Dial 112 service had tested positive for Covid-19 but his contact history was traced to a Ghaziabad hospital where he had gone during the delivery of his daughter-in-law.
Police said that the constables had come in contact with senior officers as well. According to the cops, after a constable from the Phase 3 police station who was deployed at the shelter for migrant workers in Parthala tested positive on Wednesday, 16 police officers from the police station who came in contact were sent to a quarantine facility at a hotel in Sector 63.
“A few other constables from Sector 49 and Sector 39 police stations who stayed in the barracks of the Phase 3 police station and could have come in contact with the constable have been put under quarantine,” a senior police officer said.
Meanwhile, a brother of another constable deployed at Phase 3 police station allegedly died of Covid-19.
