PATNA: Altogether 48,000 migrant workers and other stranded people reached different places in Bihar from Gujarat and 10 other states by 32 Shramik special trains on Saturday.
Around 18 lakh migrant workers have been brought back by 1,500 Shramik special trains from all across the country by the East Central Railway (ECR) since May 2.
ECR chief public relations officer (CPRO) Rajesh Kumar said, special trains from Erode, Tiruppur, Egmore, Tiruvallur, Chennai and Chengalpattu in Tamil Nadu, carrying about 12,000 people reached Barauni, Hajipur, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, Biharsharif, Madhubani and Jehanabad.

"Besides, special trains from Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh and Jirania in Tripura carrying about 3,000 migrants reached Bettiah and Gaya," the CPRO said.
While Shramik special trains from Rohtak, Panipat, Faridabad and Ambala in Haryana reached Katihar, Bhagalpur, Araria, Purnea and Biharsharif, one from Ludhiana reached Saharsa with migrant workers.
"Two special trains from Delhi carrying about 3,100 migrant workers reached Purnea," Kumar said, adding, the district administration and railway officials conducted thermal screening on migrants on their arrival.

About 3,200 migrant workers reached Motihari and Patna from Vapi and Morvi in Gujarat, while 1,400 reached Patna from Kalyan in Maharashtra. Two shramik special trains from Jalalpur in Uttar Pradesh carrying about 3000 stranded migrant workers reached Katihar and Saharsa on Saturday.
At least 16 additional Shramik special trains ferried about 20,000 migrant workers from Danapur to Gopalganj, Muzaffarpur to Anugrah Narayan Road, Gopalganj to Danapur, Bettiah to Barauni, Madhubani to Barauni, Barauni to Bettiah, Danapur to Madhubani, Barauni to Madhubani and on different other routes falling under Samastipur and Sonepur divisions of the ECR .
Meanwhile, Danapur senior divisional commercial manager Adhar Raj said the commercial wing of the Danapur division has started collecting feedback from the migrant workers and others travelling by Shramik special trains about meals and other needs being provided to them during journey.
Danapur divisional railway manager (DRM) Sunil Kumar has issued an advisory that no migrant worker should go hungry from Danapur. A special care team has come into being to address problems of migrant workers on the spot.
