    Karnataka introduces Covid-19 tracking platform built by Nasscom

    • Nasscom delivered a Covid-19 data tracking platform to Karnataka, helping the state take data-driven measures to control the pandemic.
    • State government said the data analytics based tracker would help in taking important steps to contain and manage pandemic.
    • The platform is based on a plug and play concept, providing the benefit to users to decide which features they want to use and integrate with their existing platform as needed.

    • The national capital is ready resume normal functioning after over two months as most recommendations of the city government's about lifting the coronavirus-triggered lockdown have been accepted by the Centre.
    • The Home Ministry on Saturday said 'Unlock-1' will be initiated in the country from June 8 under which the nationwide lockdown effectuated on March 25 will be relaxed to a great extent, including opening of shopping malls, restaurants and religious places, even as strict restrictions will remain in place till June 30 in the country's worst-hit areas.

    Lockdown extended in WB till June 15; govt allows TV, cinema production from June 1

    The West Bengal government on Saturday extended the coronavirus-triggered lockdown in the state up to June 15 with relaxations and conditions. The announcement came ahead of the end of the fourth phase of the countrywide lockdown on May 31. "Government of West Bengal has decided to extend the lockdown for another two weeks i.e. up to 15/06/2020 with further relaxations with conditions," an order from the state government stated. It said that it is felt necessary to continue to implement the lockdown in the affected areas -- containment zones -- to effectively contain the spread of COVID-19 and simultaneously open up activities in other areas for socio- economic revival.

    Lockdown in containment zones continues till June 30. What becomes a containment zone will be decided by the district administration. These zones will see only essential activities. There will be strict contact tracing, surveillance in these zones. States will take a call on details of restrictions in their respective zones

    How about interstate transport?

    No restrictions there. You don't need separate permission, approval for such movement. But states can regulate movement if the situation demands so. Trains, domestic flights will continue as per the earlier plan.

    That is included in phase 2 of the rule book. States and UTs have been asked to come up with a strategy at institution level with parents and other stake holders. If all goes well, we could see children back in schools by July. Again, this would need a detailed operating plan.

    Unrestricted movement of persons and goods [MHA Guidelines]

    • There shall be no restriction on inter-State and intra-State movement of persons and goods.
    • No separate permission/ approval/ e-permit will be required for such movements.
    • However, if a State/ UT, based on reasons of public health and its assessment of the situation, proposes to regulate movement of persons, it will give wide publicity in advance regarding the restrictions to be placed on such movement, and the related procedures to be followed.

    Experimental COVID-19 test detects coronavirus in 10 minutes: Study

    • Washington: Scientists have developed an experimental diagnostic test for COVID-19 that can visually detect the presence of the novel coronavirus in 10 minutes, an advance that may lead expansion of testing for the virus across the world.
    • According to the study, published in the journal ACS Nano, the test uses a simple assay containing gold nanoparticles to detect a colour change when the virus is present.
    • The researchers from the University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM) said the test does not require the use of any advanced laboratory techniques, such as those commonly used to make multiple copies of the viral genetic material for analysis.
