Sonu Sood on Saturday met Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and discussed his work to help migrants reach their homes safely during the nationwide lockdown imposed to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus.

The Governor of Maharashtra applauded the actor for his efforts and assured him his full support in his endeavours.

“Film star @SonuSood called on at Raj Bhavan, Mumbai today. Shri Sood briefed about his ongoing work to help the migrant people to reach their home states and to provide them food. Applauded his great work and assured him of his fullest support in these endeavours,” a tweet by Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari read.

Sood has been actively working towards helping the migrants, who are stranded away from their homes during the lockdown. From arranging transportation to replying promptly to their messages on Twitter, the actor is leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that they are reunited with their families.

Recently, the actor arranged for chartered flight to rescue migrant workers stranded in Kerala and sent them back to their homes in Odisha.

The Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik, thanked the actor for the same in a tweet. He wrote, "Thank Bollywood actor Sonu Sood for coming forward to help #Odisha girls, stranded in Kerala during nationwide #COVID19 lockdown, to reach home safe. His humanitarian gesture is indeed commendable."

Replying to the Odisha CM, the actor wrote, "Thank you so much for your encouraging words sir. I felt it was my duty to get our stranded sisters back to their homes. Will continue to support people struck anywhere in our country.”

Earlier, the actor had opened the doors of his Mumbai hotel to provide free accommodation to healthcare workers. He had also donated 1,500 PPE kits to doctors across Punjab to aid them in their fight against the novel coronavirus.
